Bob Dylan is an important part of the Berlin street fabric

U.S. songwriter Bob Dylan was just awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. Every day, you can hear his music being played in the streets of Berlin.

In a book, it was even claimed that one of his songs helped bring down the notorious Berlin Wall, when Bruce Springsteen played ‘Chimes of Freedom’ written by Bob Dylan at a rare DDR concert.

Here is Pennsylvania based singer Mike Mizwinski singing ‘I Shall Be Released’ in front of the remains of the wall.

Fun fact: In 1987, Bob Dylan played a “peace concert” in DDR himself together with Roger McGuinn from The Byrds and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.
